• «Ptolemy varieties of 3-manifolds»

Abstract: This is an introductory talk on Ptolemy varieties of 3-manifolds. Ptolemy varieties were introduced by Garoufalidis, Thurston, and Zickert about 10 years ago and used for computing the volume and Chern-Simons invariant of cusped 3-manifolds (or, more generally, boundary-parabolic representations of 3-manifolds). In this talk, I would like to introduce the construction of Ptolemy varieties and related notions, such as natural cocycles and obstruction classes.
